Green Party candidate for Reading West and Mid Berkshire, Carolyne Culver, participated in BBC1 Politics South programme on Sunday 16 June, alongside Conservative candidate for Chichester, Gillian Keegan; Liberal Democrat candidate for Wokingham, Clive Jones; and Labour candidate for Southampton Test Satvir Kaur.
Carolyne talked about the Green’s proposals for taxation, funding the NHS, and bringing the water companies back into public ownership. She pointed out that day’s story in the Observer Labour and Tories would ‘both leave NHS worse off than under austerity’ and explained that the Greens would tax the top one per cent of earners more and invest the money in the NHS and education. She also cited the Institute of Fiscal Studies whose director said the main parties were part of a ‘conspiracy of silence’ about where the money will come from to fund public services.
