Since being re-elected in May 2023 with an increased majority, Carolyne has been chairman of the Scrutiny Commission. This is a committee responsible for reviewing the decisions, policies and services of West Berkshire Council.
In October, the Commission held a special meeting where Thames Water and the Environment Agency were questioned about sewage and flooding. In February Carolyne will be leading the Commission in scrutinising the draft budget for 2024/25, including the various cuts to services that have been proposed.
Carolyne is also chairing a task and finish group about healthcare provision on major housing developments and is a member of a task and finish group learning lessons from the COVID pandemic.
